ALT Fairewell Party
With Uchiko’s Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) Steven and Megan’s departure approaching, we held a farewell party in Uchiko Kyōseikan on 27th June. Over 100 people joined the party – teachers, coworkers, English class students, those involved in the Uchiko Town International Association and many others – who will certainly miss them when they leave. A big thank you to Megan and Steven for the past two and three years respectively!
UTIA's 20th - Battlefield Photographer Yōchi Watanabe
On 11th June, as part of the UTIA’s 20th anniversary celebration, the highly regarded battlefield photographer Yōchi Watanabe came to Uchiko. He gave a presentation at Uchiko Kyōseikan to 476 junior high school students, entitled “Messages from the world – The importance of peace and life”. For several days, Mr. Watanabe’s photographs were on show in the lobby of the Kyōseikan, and were later exhibited at both Uchiko Jichi Centre and Oda’s Subaru. It offered a good opportunity to think about the value of peace and life.
